Title: Krogrum: MarksmanshipHunterApplication
Post by: nobelord on February 27, 2022, 09:04:46 AM
Character's Name: Krogrum
BTag: Nobelord#1318
Character's Level: 60
Class: Hunter
Usual Spec: Marksmanship
Age: 22
Previous Guild: Work In Progress (Emerald Dream)
Reason you left previous guild:
Our guild fell apart before 9.1 after we merged with a smaller Mythic raiding guild. We killed 3/10 bosses and progressed on 5, but the content drought between 9.0 and 9.1 took a toll on everybody. I took a break after starting graduate school in July and came back to current content in February.

Tell us a bit about yourself:
My name is Will, and I am a chemistry PhD student who has been playing WoW since MoP when I was a kid. I've played casually since then, but since I take school seriously, I didn't start playing competitively until 9.0, when I joined my first raiding guild. I attended almost every raid in our CN progression, and I'm feeling the itch to raid again in Sepulcher of the First Ones, which is why I want to join Nightstalkers. After a semester in grad school, I know my schedule well enough to feel comfortable committing to all the evening raids. }

Are you friends with anyone in Nightstalkers? If so, who and how do you know them?
No, I don't know anybody in the guild yet.

Why do you want to become a member of Nightstalkers?
Nightstalkers has two key aspects that appeal to me greatly. First, the longevity of the guild gives me hope that if I join, I will be able to participate in the community for a long time. I was disappointed and saddened when my old guild broke up, and I want to make connections and friends that last longer than a year. I also appreciate the professional attitude that the guild takes towards raiding and the community. As an aspiring professional in my field, the guild's approach to raiding mirrors my own approach to life. I am looking forward to less guild drama and more focus on what really matters as part of a team. Of course, the key reason I want to join is because I want to raid again for 9.2, but Nightstalkers stands out to me for the reasons above.

Any alts we can contact you on?
I spend most of my time on Krogrum these days.

Our raid times are Wed, Thurs, and Mon from 8PM - 11PM server time (CST). Are you able to make ALL of our raid times, every week?

Do you forsee any issues in the near future with attendance? Vacation? Moving? Etc? I am travelling home 3/11 to 3/20, but I will still be able to raid. I have no travel plans until late May after that.

Please take a moment to outline your rotation/priority. Be thorough and specific:
ST Raid Pull
Cast Double Tap.
Channel Aimed Shot 3 sec before pull. Potion.
Cast Wild Spirits, Blood Fury, and Trueshot.
Cast Aimed Shot so that a charge is always on cooldown. Cast Arcane Shot to spend Precise Shot procs without dropping too low on focus.
When Trueshot ends, cast Aimed Shot whenever available.
Cast Rapid Fire on CD when not capped on Focus.
Spend Precise Shot procs on Arcane Shot.
Use Steady Shot when Aimed Shot and Rapid Fire are on CD, and there are no Precise Shots while Focus is below half.

What's the one misconception about your class that upsets you the most?
Obviously, hunters are often made fun of for being dumb. While raiding in CN though, I was stunned by the amount of utility the class brings and the amount of responsibility I could take on to interact with the raid mechanics. For example, I was in charge of a hound on Altimor (Scare Beast, Freezing Trap) and soaking arrows on Mythic (Turtle). On Sun King, I managed Phoenixes and shades (traps, concussive shot). On Xymox, I got to move seeds and destroy traps (Cheetah, Turtle, Disengage). My favorite was triple soaking Stone Legion General's meteor with Turtle. Intelligently using the hunter's class tools is the best part about raiding with it, and I wish people would view the class as a toolbox to counteract raid mechanics instead of the dumb pet-pulling stereotype.

Summary of your raid experience (go as far back as you can):
10/10 N CN
10/10 H AOTC CN
3/10 M CN with progress on Kael and Inerva

Are you willing to respec or sit out of a raid if a different class is needed? Yes.

Are you willing to download a few raid specific addons? Yes.

Are you able to be in Discord (WITH a working mic) during raids? Yes.

Please list your computer's specs. CPU speed, video card, RAM, Wireless/Wired?, Cable/DSL?, and average in-game latency.
Processor: Intel i7-9700F 8-Core 3.0 GHz
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB
Memory: 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 2666MHz
Storage: 240GB SSD | 1TB HDD

9th Generation Intel Core i5-9300H Processor
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
8GB DDR4 2666MHz Memory
256GB Samsung SSD

Wired Ethernet, low latency

Is there anything else you think we should know?
Even if I am not immediately a raider since I took a break and need to catch up some more, what I really want to participate in a long-lasting community and make some new friends. I can be patient even if there is not a spot for me yet. I am also an altoholic and love experimenting with new classes, so if there is a hole in the raid team for a certain niche, I would be happy to slot in as any class and learn from the ground up.
